Legendary Women Inspiring Young Women Today

We are inspired by legendary women that have made positive contributions to society while overcoming their own personal adversity.  They are inspirations for all walks of life to continue their pursuit to achieve their dreams, work for equal rights, embrace humanity and fight for social justice.  By definition, in former times, a warrior was a brave, courageous or experienced fighter.  Here are notable legendary female warriors recorded in history who had grit, courage and vision.

Coco Chanel was an orphan and her odds were stacked against her but she pursed her dream to be a fashion designer and built her own fashion house.  Coco Chanel’s personal protest against major fashion houses such as Christian Dior’s interpretation of what a women should wear is her signature look.  She redefined what femininity in France should be by creating elegant clothes for women to feel comfortable and confident.  She promoted the color black to be worn on any given day and not only on days of mourning.  She was a trail blazer in the European thriving fashion world.

“I invented my life by taking for granted that everything I did not like would have an opposite, which I would like.” – Coco Chanel

Oprah Winfrey was born into a poor broken family from Mississippi, Unities Sates.  At the age of 4 years old, she was forced to sleep outside the house because the color of her skin was too black.  Her odds were also stacked against her and yet she overcame her difficult childhood by focusing on her education.  It was through her love of reading and the positive influence from her grandmother and teachers that she pursed her calling in media.  She understood that effective communication was her way to make a positive improvement among her viewers.  Her story from rags to riches is heartwarming and encouraging for young boys and girls to learn that despite how broken and unfortunate the situations they may come from, they too can improve their life prospects.  Oprah Winfrey defines the expression ‘it is how you play the cards you were dealt with that counts’.
